Homicidal Princesses
A study on classic princesses in a dark and twisty universe.
I wanted to explore the idea of psychologically insane or homicidal princesses and how their story would go if they were actually murderers instead of helpless and naive damsels in distress.
The first princess, Ariel, otherwise known as The Little Mermaid, is represented as a simple and naive mermaid who longs to live a life above water. In my rendition however, she collects human bones instead of human trinkets as represented in the Disney film. She aligns more with a mythological siren in this universe as she lures men to her with her beauty and then kills and eats them, saving their bones as trophies.
The second princess is Repunzel, who is well-known because of her long and luscious hair and is often represented in tales as a beautiful, young, helpless young woman who has been hidden in a tower her whole live. A notable line from many renditions is "Repunzel, let down your hair!" In this dark and twisty universe, however, she is a murderer who kills anyone who finds her in her tower. She then scalps them and braids their hair into hers, creating the long and luscious locks of hair that she is so famous for.
